How it works

A Pico Laser Carbon peel begins with the application of a carbon-based gel face mask. As the gel dries, it bonds with dirt, oil, and other impurities present on the surface of your skin. Once dry, a Pico laser skin treatment is performed. As the laser is passed over the skin, the carbon within the gel is heated causing it to absorb impurities from your skin. The pulsed laser destroys the carbon particles along with any oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, or other impurities on your skin. This laser facial treatment lifts away dead skin and debris, flushing out debris from your pores revealing a revitalized, radiant complexion. The energy generated from the process stimulates collagen and elastin production which makes your skin feel firmer. After the laser treatment is completed, a botanical skin toner is applied to the skin to cleanse and refresh the skin followed by the application of a post treatment laser cream containing sunscreen to moisturize and protect the skin. Who is a candidate for a Pico Laser Carbon peel?

This “Laser Peel” is safe and effective for all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI) and ideal for treating sun-damaged skin. f your skin is healthy, the treatment can be repeated as often as desired to maintain a healthy glow.

Is Any Special Preparation Needed Prior To Undergoing This Treatment?

A patch test and consultation must be completed 48 hours prior to the first treatment being performed. If you are using topical skin products containing retinol, Dr Hudson advises discontinuing these products a week to ten days prior to the treatment to avoid sensitivity and irritation. You should also arrive at the office make-up free.

What Can I Expect?

The most common side effect for clients is slight redness, which usually subsides within twentyfour hours. You should see an improvement immediately after the treatment since the laser carbon peel exfoliates the skin revealing smoother, fresher, clearer skin. Because the carbon laser peel is a mild procedure, clients do not require a numbing cream. The procedure itself is painless, though some clients report a mild warming sensation during the treatment. The entire treatment, including consultation, the application of the carbon mask and the laser procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to perform.

Is there any downtime?

Since the laser does not penetrate the skin too deeply, there is no downtime. The treatment is gentle and non-irritating, so it does not result in skin irritation or inflammation. Clients can leave the office and resume normal activities directly after their treatment. Following a treatment, you will need to use gentle skincare products. We recommend wearing sunscreen to prevent irritation caused by the sun. For a week after the treatment, you should avoid using any other exfoliating skincare products and those that contain retinol.

How Many Sessions Are Required?

You will begin to see results after only one session. A series of four to five treatments, spaced two to four weeks apart, can provide dramatic results with improved collagen production, reduced oiliness, and tighter, more radiant skin. Multiple treatments are required to see improvement in acne. Dr Hudson recommends multiple treatments for maximum results— typically four to six treatments spaced several weeks apart.
