Botox® Cosmetic

Smooth fine lines and wrinkles and restore your selfconfidence, while giving your eyes a more youthful and open appearance. At Regenesis, Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable treatment used to treat and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in both female and male patients. BOTOX® is a therapeutic agent derived from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum; Botox® can be performed in approximately ten minutes and requires minimal to no downtime.

Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults.

How it works

The magic of Botox lies in its ability to relax and paralyze muscles temporarily. This neurotoxin targets the nerve cells responsible for muscle contraction by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that triggers muscle movement. As a result, the muscle does not receive the message to contract. By doing so, they prevent the formation of wrinkles and fine lines caused by repeated muscle contractions over time.

When injected strategically into specific facial muscles, Botox and Dysport can smooth away frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and neck bands. The procedure is quick, and is virtually painless, and requires no downtime, making it an attractive option for those seeking a youthful appearance without surgery.

Botox® can also be used as a preventative anti-aging treatment preventing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles before they appear. Tiny amounts can be injected into certain areas of the cupid’s bow providing a “lip flip” which augments and provides the illusion of a fuller upper lip without using filler. Botox® can also be used to elevate the downturned corners of an aging mouth eliminating the resting frown.

By relaxing certain muscles while leaving others active, skilled practitioners like Dr Hudson can create a subtle nonsurgical brow lift, giving the eyes a more youthful and open appearance. Patients with hyperhidrosis (intense sweating) also can temporarily remedy their disorder with BOTOX® injections. The BOTOX® is injected into the areas which sweat profusely like the under arms and backs of knees or palms of the hands, the BOTOX® blocks the release of acetylcholine near the sweat glands which cause excessive sweating. For excessive underarm sweating, Botox® can achieve a gradual reduction in sweat production, with most of our patients seeing at least a 50% reduction in hyperhidrosis. Dr Hudson will evaluate your specific condition and recommend a treatment strategy to ensure that you receive the best possible results.

Botox® is injected using a micro-needle and works by relaxing certain facial  muscles where injected. This temporary action prevents the skin above the muscles  from being able to wrinkle. This causes the skin to smoothen out, providing a more  youthful appearance.

Botox® should not radically change your facial appearance or result in the telltale  signs of looking frozen or appearing “done.” This beauty enhancing treatment can  lift your brows, create a more open eye, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, correct  frown lines, and achieve many other cosmetic improvements. Botox® can provide  long-term anti-aging benefits with repeated treatments over time. To maintain your  results, it is best to schedule ongoing treatments every three to six months

Immediately after the administration of Botox® Cosmetic, the patient may  experience some slight swelling and bruising at the treatment site, which should  gradually subside within a few days to reveal the full effect of the treatment. Most Botox® patients see visible improvements within three to seven days, with a  marked improvement and significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and  wrinkles.

The effects last between three to six months following a single treatment of  Botox®, When the effects begin to wear off, clients will notice a very gradual  fading of its effects. At this point you will return for your next treatment. Botox®  used for sweating can control excess sweating for up to a six-month period.  Maintenance treatments can help you maintain your results.

Potential side effects following the use of Botox® Cosmetic may include  discomfort at the injection site, swelling or bruising at the injection site, headache or flu-like symptoms, droopy eyelids, dry eyes or excessive tearing, and dry mouth  in some cases. Clients are advised to avoid applying any unnecessary pressure on  the treated areas to avoid additional adverse effects that may include swelling of  the eyelids, drooping eyelids, dry eyes, blurred vision, double vision, or even  decreased eyesight. If symptoms of an allergic reaction to Botox® Cosmetic occur  such as itching, redness, dizziness, or difficulty in breathing occur, the client is  advised to seek prompt medical attention right away.
