Scar Treatment

Regenesis offers non-surgical laser scar removal treatments which can improve the  appearance of existing scars in as little as one treatment. Scars often stem from  chronic acne, but clients also develop scarring after surgery or a traumatic injury,  Scars can be classified as:

  • Keloid
  • Hypertrophic
  • Ice pick
  • Boxcar
  • Rolling scars

Whatever the cause, Dr. Hudson can formulate the best treatment plan which will  yield the most optimal results over time, based upon the patient’s specific skin  type. Often a combined treatment approach is necessary and provides the best  results. Examples of such treatments include the use of dermal fillers, fractional  laser skin resurfacing, microneedling, chemical peels, and injection of steroid  medication. In the past, scars were frustrating and highly challenging to treat, but  today’s most advanced laser skin technology can smooth away scars by working  beneath the skin’s surface. At Regenesis, we use the state-of-the-art Cynosure®  Icon™ laser for laser treatment of acne scars, surgical, burn and traumatic injury

scars. Fractional laser scar treatments are an effective, nonsurgical way to treat and  improve the appearance of scars. It is a quick and simple procedure that is well  tolerated and requires little-to-no downtime with minimal discomfort.

How it works

Laser scar treatment focuses multiple micro-fine columns of laser energy to target  deeply into the dermal layer of skin treating the support structure and breaking  down scar tissue. The Palomar Icon laser heats the dermis, a deeper layer of skin,  stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are  required to fill in ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars. As both collagen and elastin  grow and remodel over time, the formerly depressed areas grow smoother, tighter,  and less noticeable in appearance.

The Icon laser targets scars in a variety of ways. If you have excess tissue, like  with keloids and hypertrophic scars, the Icon laser targets that tissue to break it  down. Fractional laser treatments smooth the skin to improve skin tone and  appearance. Laser treatments target blood vessels in the scar tissue and reduce  redness. The body’s natural healing process clears cells and older, damaged tissue,  and replaces it with fresh, new collagen and elastin — the crucial building blocks  of normal-looking skin. Collagen continues to be remodeled for up to six months  following a laser treatment.

faqs

It depends on how severe your scars are, but most clients experience scar reduction  within 3 to 7 treatments. Dr Hudson will customize a scar-removal treatment to  suit your individual needs.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to completely erase or remove a scar, but Dr  Hudson can dramatically improve the cosmetic appearance of a scar by minimizing  the scar’s appearance and thickness. The goal is to leave behind the least visible  scar possible, ideally one which is imperceptible or nearly so.

You can expect to experience some minor discomfort during treatment. As such, a  topical numbing cream is applied before the treatment to numb the skin.  Depending on the surface area being treated, it may take up to 30 minutes to  perform the treatment.

Minimal downtime is required following treatment. The client may resume their  normal activities. Clients should expect to experience some mild swelling, and

temporary redness. These effects usually disappear in a couple of days. Recovery  times vary, but it may take 3 to10 days for your skin to heal. Dr Hudson will  provide aftercare instructions immediately following treatment. Results are not  always instant. It may take weeks or months before you see maximal results.

costs
